Byxbee Park -- Palo Alto Baylands

Take Embarcadero Road eastbound (toward the bay) to where it ends at t "T" intersection with Harbor Rd. Turn Right on Harbor. Find parking at the end of the road.

For BBE, we'll park as close to Harbor as possible. Are there gates?

Arrowhead Marsh -- Oakland, CA

Directions: We’ll meet at Martin Luther King Jr., Regional Shoreline’s Garretson Pt. parking area and stroll over to Arrowhead from there.

Take 880 north or south to Hegenberger Rd. in Oakland. Exit Hegenberger west towards the Oakland Airport. Take your first right hand turn on Edgewater. Follow Edgewater to where it dead-ends at the parking and picnic area.

For BBE team members, inductees, and their affiliates, we’ll park right outside this gate.

Shoreline at Mountain View

Let's start this adventure at the east end of San Antonio Rd.

Start from somewhere and find 101 south. Take the San Antonio Rd. east exit. Follow San Antonio to the end, and look for parking just about anywhere. You'll find us.

BBE folks, I think we follow the same directions. Should be fun.

Robinson Rd. -- Solano County, USA

We'll likely form up several carpools, and take off from wherever seems appropriate. I'm guessing 90 minutes to Suisun...?

Dumbarton Bridge to 880 North seems to make sense. Somewhere up there in Oakland/Emeryville, 880 turns into I-80. follow I-80 east to Rt. 12. (this is a few miles past the big hill you have to climg to waive goodbye to Vallejo). Go on Rt. 12 east about 3.5 miles to Grizzly Island Rd./Sunset Dr. in Suisun. Turn left at intersection, then left into Raley's parking lot. (Friends don't let friends buy from Starbucks, but there is a Starbucks straight ahead on Sunset Dr., about a 1/4-mile. With -- value-added -- bathroom).

Almaden Lake

Almaden Lake is located at the intersection of Almaden Expressway and Coleman Avenue.

From Palo Alto: Take 101 or 280 towards San Jose. Take Highway 85 South towards Gilroy. Continue under Hwy 17/880 to the Almaden Expressway exit

At the end of the exit, make a left, immediately get in your right hand lane, and turn right on Almaden Expwy. It’s one of those weird exits.

Turn left on Coleman (approx. 1 mile.)

The lake is now on your right.

Turn right on Winfield. Find parking and meet on the south east corner of the parking area, facing the lake.

BBE team should go to the end of Winfield and find parking there. We’ll be walking down the Alamitos Creek Trail, which might actually be fun. Auricularily speaking.

Coyote Hills Regional Park -- Fremont

Dumbarton Bridge Eastbound

Take Paseo Padre Parkway North or to the left or towards that big hill over your left shoulder.

It’s the first exit after you pass the toll booths.

Maybe a mile north on Paseo Padre, turn

Left on Patterson Ranch Road.

$5 entry fee. Carpooling is a good thing!

Park in front of the Visitor Center. We’ll meet in the parking lot.

BBE team, we’ll park at the corner of Paseo Padre and Patterson Ranch Rd.

BBE should be getting pretty dang good by now. Not quite late April quality, but not bad. Sure you don’t want to get up a little earlier?

 Trip Recommendations:

1. This trip is designed with the newest students in mind.  A recommended required class for any students who have not taken one of my previous classes

2. These trips are perhaps (this is not an exact science!) less demanding than the trips with the #3 footnote.

3. These trips are perhaps a little more demanding (physically, distance from home, variety of birds) than the other field trips.

4. Birding by Ear. 7 a.m. – contact Bob for more info.
